After de-thawing beef in the frig, how many does does it stay fresh?

I took some beef from my freezer and put it on the counter to de-thaw, it was still frozen, so I just stuck it in my frig to unthaw. Its been in the frig about 2 1/2 days now. Can I still cook it and eat it?
