Health danger to ozone exposure at high levels?

Two parts to this. Yes, there is no doubt that ozone damages the lungs. The second part, though, is how do you know that ozone is the cause of your troubles, and if you are sure, then how did high levels of ozone appear in your home? You surely didn't have a home ozone generator left running, did you?
