I don't know what to do...Is counselling the answer?

You went through a difficult time - that is obvious. You may have been really afraid of what was happening to you medically (anyone would be!). When people are afraid and feel out of contol, they don't act like themselves. Unfortunately, you can't force her to be with you or like you. What I would suggest is that you do let her know how afraid you were (if you haven't already), and that made you act differently. Continue to be nice to her and get out with other friends so that you don't isolate yourself. It sounds as if you are a bit depressed, and even if you don't feel like it, getting out and doing things really helps. If the feeling doesn't go away with a bit of time, then counseling may be just what you need. Remember, you have been through a lot, and you need time to get back to being yourself. Seeing a doctor about depression can help, too. I wish you luck, and hang in there!
